What Is the Sumatran Rhinoceros?

The Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), also known as the Sumatran rhino, hairy rhinoceros, or Asian two-horned rhinoceros, is one of the world’s rarest rhinoceros species.

It belongs to the family Rhinocerotidae and is one of the five rhinoceros species that survive today. It is also the only living species in the genus Dicerorhinus.

The Sumatran rhinoceros is famous for its reddish-brown, shaggy hair, two horns, relatively small size compared with some other rhinos, and adaptation to dense tropical forests.

Physical Features
