Important Safety Rules
- Wear eye protection and gloves.
- Never smoke or create sparks near a battery.
- Keep metal tools from accidentally connecting the positive and negative terminals.
- Do not open a maintenance-free battery.
- Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s procedure for disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, because some modern cars require electronic systems to be reset or the battery to be registered.
- If the battery is swollen, cracked, leaking, or producing an unusual smell, do not attempt DIY repair.
