Environmental pollution has traditionally been associated with contaminated air, unsafe water, and hazardous chemicals. However, an equally important yet often underestimated pollutant surrounds us every day—noise. Whether generated by busy highways, aircraft, railway systems, industrial machinery, construction sites, or even household appliances, environmental noise has become an unavoidable feature of modern life. Unlike many pollutants, noise leaves no visible residue, yet its effects on human health can be profound and long-lasting.

For decades, research focused primarily on the damaging effects of loud noise on hearing. Today, a growing body of scientific evidence has expanded this understanding considerably.
