Let me ruled by Nature
I can still remember a book by the Chinese writer Li Bi, which left me with a simple but profound thought: Let me abide by Nature; let me be guided by Nature. Perhaps this is one of the most meaningful solutions to many of the problems we face in modern life. We spend so much time trying to control circumstances, satisfy endless desires, earn more money, and meet the expectations of others that we often forget the wisdom of the natural world. Nature does not hurry, yet everything has its own rhythm. The sun rises, the seasons change, rivers flow, and trees grow according to their natural processes. Observing these patterns reminds us that life does not always need to be forced or controlled.
To live according to Nature does not mean abandoning our responsibilities or refusing to make plans. It means understanding our natural needs, respecting our limitations, and learning to live in harmony with the world around us. When our minds become crowded with worries, we can find relief in the quiet of a lake, the shade of a tree, the sound of birds, or a gentle walk through a garden. Instead of constantly seeking answers outside ourselves, we can pause, observe, and listen to our inner thoughts. Sometimes, the solution to a difficult problem becomes clearer when we stop struggling against it. Silence gives us the opportunity to distinguish between what we truly need and what we merely desire.
Perhaps the real wisdom lies in allowing Nature to teach us how to live. We can work without becoming slaves to work, earn money without making wealth the purpose of our existence, and make plans without losing the ability to appreciate the present moment. Nature teaches patience, balance, simplicity, renewal, and acceptance. When we feel confused, we can return to these principles and ask ourselves whether our actions are bringing us closer to a peaceful and meaningful life. Let me abide by Nature, let me be guided by Nature—this can become a personal philosophy, reminding us that happiness is not always found by adding more to our lives. Sometimes, it begins when we remove unnecessary pressure, reconnect with the natural world, and learn to live in harmony with ourselves and our surroundings.
