DIY Step 5: Sew the Side Hems

Using a sewing machine or hand stitching, sew straight lines along both side hems. Remove the pins as you sew.
DIY Step 6: Create the Bottom Hem

Fold the bottom edge upward about 1 inch, then fold it again another 1–2 inches for a stronger hem. Press with an iron and sew across the entire width.
DIY Step 7: Make the Top Pocket

Fold the top edge downward about 3–4 inches, depending on the diameter of your curtain rod. Sew along the lower edge of the fold to create a pocket through which the curtain rod will slide.
DIY Step 8: Add Decorative Features (Optional)

Enhance your curtain by sewing on lace, ribbon, tassels, decorative trim, or contrasting fabric borders. You may also add tiebacks for a more elegant appearance.
