A Murder Mystery Wrapped in Secrets

What happens when an ordinary investigation turns into a complicated web of murder, mysterious clues and dangerous secrets? In Deadly Secrets, Carla Simpson takes readers into an intriguing world where appearances can be deceptive and every discovery raises another troubling question.

The second installment in the Angus Brodie and Mikaela Forsythe Murder Mystery series brings back the adventurous Mikaela Forsythe. An author, adventuress and private investigator, she finds herself involved in a disturbing case that threatens the freedom and reputation of her friend, actress Theodora Templeton.

When Suspicion Turns Into a Dangerous Investigation

The mystery begins when a severed foot is discovered in Theodora Templeton’s bed. With a high-ranking official also missing, suspicion quickly surrounds the actress. Mikaela cannot simply stand aside while her friend faces the possibility of being imprisoned for a crime she may not have committed.

Realizing that the case requires more than independent investigation, Mikaela seeks assistance from Angus Brodie, a former police inspector. Brodie is an irascible Scottish investigator whose personality and methods often challenge Mikaela’s unconventional approach to solving mysteries.

Their partnership is anything but straightforward. Mikaela’s unusual interests, including her communication with the dead and her pet iguana, create an interesting contrast with Brodie’s more traditional investigative background. Yet, as further murders occur, they discover that working together may be their only chance of exposing the truth.

Clues, Characters and Unexpected Twists

A Team of Unforgettable Characters

Beyond the central investigation, the story introduces a lively collection of personalities. Mikaela’s great aunt has her own safari adventure planned, while the Mudger and Rupert become involved in the developing case. A brilliant young Scottish man also joins the team, bringing another dimension to the investigation.

These parallel developments add humor and personality to an otherwise dark mystery. The author balances suspense with character interactions, giving the story a distinctive atmosphere.
